I can’t remember if I’ve written about this thing before, but I’m pretty sure that I haven’t… I’ve received a lot of questions about it lately, and although I probably won’t ever own one, I’d like to give you my two cents about it anyway.
The Aeroquick composter comes in three sizes: 187 gallons, 110 gallons and the “petite” 77 gallon size (capacities a bit odd?). First of all, if I was going to use one of these, I’d definitely go for the biggest size to make the best use of a compost bin…but they’re pretty darn expensive, too.
So what do they have going for them? (Click here for the product’s website.)
The attribute about these that draws the most attention is their advertising of the odor free, perfect ventilation design. I can’t tell if this is legit or just really imaginative writing. I’m usually a bit weary of “high tech” composters and this is no exception.
Being that ventilation is absolutely crucial when it comes to any composter design, this is something I’d have to look at closer in person. Basically, if the ventilation system of this bin is as good as it says, this could very well be a winner.
Besides that, they have a nice rodent screen on the bottom, and they appear durable. I can’t tell if there’s metal hinges…that would be my other main concern.
Any of you out there have one yet? If so, I would love to hear what you think and check out some pictures!
