Vancouver organics may hit 50,000 tons a year (article)

In a "request for expressions of interest," or RFEOI, to city seeks architectural and engineering services for the design of the new facility. "As the City of Vancouver moves to expand food scraps collection from its residents this year, the additional material that will be collected is expected to exceed the capacity of the [Vancouver South Transfer Station]," the city said in the RFEOI. In 2011, the city collected about 26,000 tons of organics from Vancouver homes. That number will rise to almost 50,000 tons, according to the city. The city hopes to have the project…
