https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbpSdR4hHXY I added two red wigglers to the Envirocycle compost tumbler, and now there's dozens! When conditions are favorable, they'll stick around and break down the material. To keep the tumbler balanced, I add food scraps once a week, tumble it, open up the lid and add enough leaves to cover the whole surface of the contents. Seeing the worms stick around week after week is a good gauge that the compost is going well, and they're making my job easier!
The wigglers keep increasing their numbers, and better yet they're breaking down the contents quickly. The tumbler went from near full to half full in no time- it's safe to say that red wigglers are an excellent addition to outdoor composting efforts. Red wigglers are very resilient to extremes, but if it gets too hot or too cold, they can burrow into the contents or exit the tumbler for a bit.
