Off to the Bay…

For the next 10 days, I'll be hanging out in the Bay Area... I can't wait to take some pictures of the San Francisco composting program.  And of course, I'll be taking photos of trash and recycling cans for Tyler Talks Trash. I find it funny that my favorite part of traveling has become taking pictures of waste receptacles...seriously!  It's always the first thing that comes to mind when I go somewhere. I've heard really good things about San Francisco's composting plan...it wouldn't surprise me if Philadelphia followed suit.  I'll have to see what I can do...

Debunking the Myth About Composting Citrus Peels

Recently, I've been receiving a lot of questions about whether or not citrus fruit belongs in your compost pile...yes it definitely does! Any and all food is fair game- for every amount of food added, be sure to add 2-3 times as much brown materials (leaves work best) and you're golden. I'm not sure how this urban legend really came to fruition, but it's simply not something to worry about. It seems the common belief is that it takes longer to decompose?
