The summer calls for more frequent emptying of the food scrap collector- I went over a week and now I’ve got fruit flies.
No food scrap collector is immune from bugs, but the Sure-Close buys you some time- if you empty it once a week you should be all set.
Our issue isn’t the food scrap bucket we keep under our sink (we call it our “chum bucket”). We empty it at least twice a week and we use the proper bags that break down. Our apartment complex owners won’t pay for regular pick up of the large food scraps bin next to our regular dumpster. I called the waste management company and learned it should be picked up once a week BUT our complex isn’t on a regular schedule. I don’t believe the bins have been picked up since we started having to separate food scraps. I’m whistle blowing to our Health Dept.
