How to make compost using the e-composter

When I found this video, I was ready to hate on it due to the misleading title- “E-composter” made me think it’s one of those $300+ countertop indoor systems… don’t spend your hard earned money on that junk.

The product in this video looks like it was inspired by the Earth Machine or any other composting box.

I think this design is fine, although I personally haven’t had much success with using only one composter as a flow-through system (door at the bottom).

In other words, I think results are better when you alternate between two composting systems, allowing the first one to finish completely before disturbing it.

Two gripes:

1) “can’t add anything cooked to your compost heap” – WHOA!  Couldn’t be further from the truth.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with adding food in any state to your compost.

2) No need for compost activators either- just grab a handful of dirt and some water.  It’s a freely available activator.

If this system looks appealing to you, I’d say go for it- it’ll get the job done.
