Not mad at the worm castings smudging all over the compost tumbler! Only issue is that the worms are throwing off my compost tumbler results... I've been loading this thing for way longer than expected because the worms just break everything down quicker. I'm curious to see how long they'll stick around before they burrow down in the colder months...

Does Adding Worms to Your Compost Tumbler Make a Difference?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbpSdR4hHXY I added two red wigglers to the Envirocycle compost tumbler, and now there's dozens! When conditions are favorable, they'll stick around and break down the material. To keep the tumbler balanced, I add food scraps once a week, tumble it, open up the lid and add enough leaves to cover the whole surface of the contents. Seeing the worms stick around week after week is a good gauge that the compost is going well, and they're making my job easier!

Red Wigglers Make It Easy!

The wigglers keep increasing their numbers, and better yet they're breaking down the contents quickly. The tumbler went from near full to half full in no time- it's safe to say that red wigglers are an excellent addition to outdoor composting efforts. Red wigglers are very resilient to extremes, but if it gets too hot or too cold, they can burrow into the contents or exit the tumbler for a bit.
